Strolling around Sopot

Sopot's eclectic architecture combines many historical styles (Neo-Gothic, Neo-Renaissance, Neo-Baroque and Art Nouveau - most popular in the beginnings of the 20th century). Many of the precious Sopot historical places are from the turn of the 19th and 20th century. They were designed by Sopot architects but under the large influence of German art and culture. The only surviving building from the times when Sopot was a part of Polish culture is the Sierakowski Mansion.

Because of the fact that Sopot didn't suffer war damage (apart from the city centre, burnt in March 1945), the biggest Polish group of buildings in european seaside resort style (from the turn of the 19th and 20th century) could survive.
